Wood Destroying pests are the ones that can cause the most problems to a home owner.  Termites and Carpenter Ants are the 2 most common wood destroying insects in our areas.  And unlike many other pests, theses two don't care where your house is located.  If it is located in an area where theses two pest are in then your house could become infested.

CARPENTER ANTS:
There are a few different ways to control the carpenter ants from entering your home.  The first is the easiest and most basic, keep all vegetation trimmed back from the house 12 inches to 18 inches.  And make sure that there are no tree branches touching or hanging over the house.  Another is to contact a professional right away if you think you may have an infestation of carpenter ants. As you can see below that the damage from Carpenter Ants can be as bad as termites if not treated in time.  Be sure to check out our Carpenter Ant page for more information on these pests, or give us a call.

TERMITES:
Termites cause billions of dollars worth of damage to homes every year.  This pest is usually not seen in your house until after the damage has been done.  The areas in which the termites move are called mud tubes and are designed to hold moisture in and keep the termites hidden from any possible enemies.
The only way to protect against termites is with a termite treatment.  Although this can be an expensive project, don't you think you home is well worth the investment.  This is a project that is best left to a professional.

This is an example of a termite mud tube.

And to think, this could have been prevented.  Don't let this happen to your home.

There are two basic types of treatment; the first is a liquid treatment.  It is very invasive and can cost upwards of $20 per lineal foot.  The second is a Bait treatment.  This is a treatment where monitor stations are installed around the perimeter of your home and monitored for any activity of termites, once termites are found in the monitors, then the bait is added to the station.  This is a very uninvasive treatment, but does require monitoring of the stations on a routine basis.

This is the Advance Termite Baiting Syatem from
Whitmire Micro-Gen that we use for our baiting system.  We have found this to be just as effective as the liquid treatments that some companies are charging more than $20 an lineal foot for.   Call today for your free inspection and quote using the ATBS.
