We are finally getting the rains, although we need it, it will bring about another dangerous pest problem to our area. Mosquitoes. After talking to the State Health Department here in Clovis, they have informed me that the early warning signs of dead birds in the area are no longer being tested for WNV. The stat says we have it in our area and have had it for some time, so they no longer feel the need to test for it. With this in mind, it is time to start treating your home for Mosquitoes. Its better to stop them before they start, instead of waiting to get sick from them after they are here.
